Its always drummed into us that Labour increases Debt, Labour cant be trusted with finances, Labour will Spend Spend Spend. Well I did some calculations and came out of it a little surprised. Its not true at all and since 1900 the Conservatives have increased the UK Debt by more than Labour each time they were in power.
The figures speak for themselves and make a mockery of the Tory claim that Labour always spends more.
So if anyone wants to challenge my figures please go ahead.

(Since 2010 772.9b 76.5%)
Since 1976 labour has increased the UK debt by 398 billion
Since 2010 the Tories have increase the UK debt by 669 billion upto the start of 2017
Since 1970 the Tories have increased the UK debt by 923 billion upto the start of 2017
So how are Labour the ones that cant run the finances??
Since 1900 when Labour was established to 1980 the UK debt increased by 97 billion that was both Tory and Labour goverments. So even if you add all of the Tory and Labour debt between 1900 and 1980 the debt that labour has added comes to 495 billion.
The Tories have added 669 billion in just 7 years ..... 174 billion more than all Labour governments combined.
Update 17/05/19
I added deficit figures and Its worth noting that the Tories have decreased the deficit from 100.46 billion in 2010 to a surplus of -0.83 in 2018. However it should also be noted that whilst they may have reduced the deficit by 100 billion they have increased debt by 772.9 billion.
Update 03/01/20
Its worth noting that in 1976 the UK had to go to the IMF for a bailout.
