Are we alone in the universe?

An interesting question ..... lets do some calculations.

There are approximately  17 Billion Earth sized worlds in our galaxy.

Note that’s in our galaxy, in the universe there are estimated to be 100 to 200 billion galaxies. Actually data from the new telescopes in space puts this estimate much higher at 500 billion galaxies.

Being conservative let’s assume that only 1% of those planets is in its star systems habitable zone i.e. the correct distance away from the star to encourage life. (Bearing in mind we are considering life as we know it) that's 170,000,000 worlds (170 million).

So let’s be skeptical and say that only 1% of those planets have actually developed life.  That’s 1,700,000 (1.7 million) Earth sized worlds with life on them.

Continuing to be pessimistic let’s assume that only 1% of those Earth sized worlds have developed complex life forms like animal’s.  That’s 17,000 worlds with animal life form or similar.

Carrying on being skeptically pessimistic let’s say that only on 1% of those planets have the life forms evolved to a level similar to humans. That’s 170 worlds with civilization at a stage similar to ours in our galaxy.

Let’s be optimistic now and assume that on 1% of those 170 planets the evolution of the intelligent species has gone to a higher level than ours.  That’s 1.7 worlds where the intelligent civilization has probably mastered space travel.

1.7 worlds …. Well that’s not many

But hang on we are only talking about our galaxy.  Lets go back to the amount of Galaxies in the universe low estimates are 100 to 200 billion galaxies (Current estimates are higher and in the 500 billion region)

So 1.7 worlds multiplied by (lets go low) 100 billion galaxies.

That’s  28,900,000,000,000 worlds probably with life at a higher level than ours.

Let me put that into words, That’s 28.9 Trillion.

28.9 Trillion with life at a higher level than ours.

Lets be hopelessly pessimistic and say that only .1% have survived (That’s point 1 of a percent)

That’s still 28,900,000,000 worlds (28.9 billion) with a life form probably at a higher level to ours.

OK ever the pessimist let’s say that only .01% (That’s point 01 of a percent) have really developed space travel.

That’s still 2,890,000 worlds (2.8 million)  in the universe with a life form higher than ours that has developed space travel.

But back to our little galaxy

170 worlds with civilization at a stage similar to ours in our galaxy.

Still think we are alone?

The problem is the universe is so vast the human mind cannot comprehend it.

Why haven't we received communication from them?

Can we understand what an ant is saying?  Can an ant understand us?

But we can look at an anthill and say "hey that's pretty clever how they build that".

Do we try and communicate with the ants even though we know they are there?

The problem with humans is we are so filled with our own self importance and blinkered by religion we fail to perceive we are merely Ants in the big scheme of things.

Boys of the Cloth A Unique Perspective on Sexual Abuse by Priests

http://boysofthecloth.com/BookExcerpts.php

"One issue the book does not address in any detail is the Church’s deplorable handling of cases of abuse. All too often, victims received too little sympathy and their abusers too much. All too often, mollycoddled molesters were given new access to young children, with predictable and tragic consequences. And all too often, the Church seemed intent on protecting itself and its priests, but not the young innocents who were being harmed."

I've posted this as I realized that when ever this subject comes up it seems to be dismissed or dies out pretty quickly.  It never seems to erupt into the scandal that it would if it were say schoolteachers or social workers.

My question is, why are priests that molest children never seen being dealt with by the courts?

My question is, why do people of religions faiths seem to turn a blind eye to this?

My question is, why are priests that molest children not thrown out of the church in disgrace?

My question is, why would you follow a religion that condones this?

THINK for yourself. Question Everything

This is more along my line of thinking,  “Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.” ~ Buddha.

I have been investigating some of the oldest texts known to man, the RigVeda, the kesh temple hymn and Instructions of Shuruppak when I came across the quote above attributed to Buddha.

It would be good if other religions promoted the same type of thinking.  What a world we would live in if all peoples lived by the above rules.

Real Terminators

Incredible advances in robotics.  Unfortunate that the driving force behind these programs is to develop killing machines, but I suppose that's where the main funding resides.

America's Faustian Deal with the Devil of War

America's Faustian Deal with the Devil of War

UK Loses Triple A Credit Rating

The UK has lost its triple-A credit rating for the first time since the 1970s.

What is a credit rating?

Very simply its the ability to pay back what one borrows. Its the reason why you see signs in pubs saying " Please don't ask for credit as a punch in the mouth sometimes offends"

Why has the UK lost its AAA rating?

Most politicians have trouble tracking their own expenses, why should we be amazed that they lost an AAA rating?

Does the downgrade matter?

If your poor then yes the bastards will find a way to make you suffer more. If your rich who gives a toss open another bottle of champagne and blame it on the previous government.

What does it mean for the government?

A few more face saving arguments in parliament while (yes you've guessed it) they blame the opposition. Then its back to spin the bottle trying to decide if they really should do something which would actually make a difference. Decide to do nothing as they can always blame the previous Government.

So will the government now change its economic policy?

Probably not, they will just blunder along safe in the knowledge that they can blame the previous government, just like all governments in power do.

Created by God? - If so who was God?

The great pyramid, built by Egyptians?

Personally im skeptical, the accuracy involved is just to great and the qty of stone too big.

Lets work out the time scale very simply.

2,000,000 blocks of stone in 20 years

Thats 100,000 per year = 1,923 per week

274 blocks per day = 11 per hour

That means that the ancient Egyptians were laying 2.75 very large blocks of stone every 15mins. That's working constantly 24hrs round the clock for 20 years ... REALLY??  Do we really agree that this is possible?

So if the Egyptians just took them over i.e they were already built.  Then who built them was it God? and who was God? Was the God that the Bible, Koran, Torah and any other religious book purport to, part of an ancient race from pre-history?
Did they leave us a message engineered into the ancient monuments warning us of  something? something that got interpreted as "judgement day" in the ancient scriptures?

This is an excellent movie which shows the mathematics involved and the feats of engineering accomplished supposedly by the ancients with just Bronze chisels and Deorite balls.

Its quite long but very interesting.

Let me know your opinion I'm very interested what other people think.

Ruthless Blues

One of the best, if not the best cover ive heard of this John (Irish) Earle's sax break is like liquid chocolate graveyards, smooth, mellow and haunting. John Knightsbridge comes in with a stonking guitar solo.  Tony Fernandez (ex Strawbs) on Drums, (ex womble) Paul McCallum on bass and Stevie Smith is on Vocals and harp.

John Knightsbridge ex cream, John 'irish' Earle (rip) was ex many bands and Stevie Smith toured the US with Bad manners before joining Ruthless after Johnny Mars left.

God Fearing People .... Really?

One of the things that really irritated me recently were certain comments I saw on facebook made by Americans claiming that the real reason people killed (shot) (mass murdered) people was because they weren't "God Fearing" or they had "Lost Jesus".

Well Im sorry but I don't need a God or Jesus to tell me whats right or wrong. Neither do I need them to keep me on the right path or do good deeds.

I find some of these so called religious nuts damn scary. I also find the comment on pages like this one on Facebook, somewhat scary also.

https://www.facebook.com/pages/God-Fearing-Gun-carrying-Christian-Americans/282590121794775?ref=ts&fref=ts

Oooh yes you've guessed it I don't believe in God and i'm somewhat doubtful that a person called Jesus as described in the bible actually existed.  But more on that in later blogs.

Happy Slapping

Its no wonder that kids don't worry about the ramifications of what they are doing when they know that they can kill someone and be let off on 18 months.

I'm at a loss as to what the legal system i.e judges are doing, what planet are they residing on, is there oxygen there? ... it wouldnt appear so.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2010/07/27/happy-slapping-pair-jailed-for-street-attack-on-grandad-115875-22443090/

You could get more than that for speeding ... its bollox thats what it is total bollox!!!

"Referring to his father's attackers, he said: "I hope the boys who did this to my father realise the gravity of what they have done and the profound effect their actions have caused."

Of course they dont the judge made the gravity of the situation 18 months .... 18 month for killing someone ....

SECRET CHAMBERS REVEALED

Mysterious chambers under the sphinx??

"A decade passed. Then geologist Robert Schoch got behind the water weathering theory. Working with our seismographs we discovered what appears to be a substantial cavity/void/chamber under the left paw of the Sphinx-- which matched one of the best known and glamorous of the Cayce prophecies. He predicted the 'Hall of Records' would be found there, containing a detailed history of 'Atlantis'. Following our presentation at the Geological Society of America's Annual Meeting in San Diego CA (1991) the Sphinx controversy was ignited internationally. At this point, it could no longer be ignored and Lehner, along with a number of his colleagues, attempted to rebut the theory. He contended that the current 'flaking' taking place on the Sphinx and its enclosure walls is sufficient to explain the weathering. The flaking is supposed to be produced by ground water leaching up by capillary action into the higher strata of the bedrock."

Crazy Illuminati

Ive been practicing playing different variations of  the Gnarls Barkley song - Crazy and on the comments of the Youtube video noticed that someone had said the song was about the Illuminati.

New one on me I assumed it was about someone losing their mind, maybe depressed or ... well hadn't really thought much about it apart from that.

Anyways whats the Illuminati I thought well a quick google and the short answer is ...
"there is a "global elite" society that is either in control of the world, or is seeking to take control of the world"

you can read more here

Not sure about that one think the one about someone with mental issues is probably closer to the truth.

So....
And back to the song

Hopefully any review or change of IR35 would result in more onus being put on Companies to employ long term contractors rather attacking the contractors again.
